Understanding the mind. Uncovering the impact of trauma. Inspiring recovery.
I’m a first year Psychology (Honours) student passionate about human behaviour, cognition and trauma recovery. I’m driven to understand how our experiences shape the way we think, feel and connect and to build a future helping people feel heard, empowered and capable of healing.
I’ve always been drawn to the quiet, complicated parts of people, the things we don’t always say out loud. Psychology has given me a language for that curiosity, and a clear purpose: to understand how the mind works, how trauma leaves its mark, and how recovery becomes possible.
What drew me to this field was wanting to sit with people in the moments that are hard to sit with alone, and to help make sense of them without judgement. I’m especially interested in how our experiences shape the way we think, feel and connect, and how skilled, consistent support can change the course of someone’s life.
I’m in my first year of Psychology (Honours) at UTS, building the foundations of clinical practice. That learning is in service of a clear goal: to become a clinical psychologist who helps people feel heard, empowered and capable of healing.
My path to psychology wasn’t a straight line. It began in nursing, work that taught me how to be present with people when they are most vulnerable, and how much healing depends on seeing the whole person, not only a diagnosis.
“Leaving nursing wasn’t a departure from care. It was a deeper way of offering it.”
The more time I spent with patients, the more I found myself drawn to what was happening beneath the surface: the fear, the grief, the resilience, the stories that shaped how they were coping. I wanted to understand the mind behind the symptoms, how trauma, memory and connection shape the way we heal.
That realisation led me to Psychology at UTS, where I’m now building the clinical foundations to understand the mind as closely as I once cared for the body, and to work toward a future in trauma-informed, recovery focused practice.
Working alongside individuals with complex mental health needs transformed my curiosity into purpose. It taught me to look beyond what is immediately visible and seek to understand the person beneath the behaviour, their inner world, lived experiences and unique ways of coping. That experience continues to inspire my journey toward becoming a psychologist who offers more than support: someone who helps people feel genuinely seen, understood and empowered in their recovery.
Currently developing a strong foundation in psychological science, with particular interests in human behaviour, cognition, trauma recovery and clinical psychology.
Completed two years of nursing studies, developing foundational knowledge in physical and mental health, person centred care, clinical communication and multidisciplinary practice. This experience continues to shape my holistic understanding of psychological wellbeing.
Trained to recognise signs of common mental health concerns, provide appropriate initial support and encourage access to professional assistance.
Completed clinical placements in the Renal Ward at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and the Aged Care Ward at Balmain Hospital. These experiences strengthened my skills in compassionate patient care, clinical communication, teamwork and supporting people through illness, vulnerability and significant life transitions.
Provided person centred support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges. This role strengthened my ability to build trust, communicate sensitively, maintain professional boundaries and support people with complex and individual needs.
Currently working alongside a clinical psychologist and general practitioner specialising in longevity and sports medicine. This multidisciplinary environment provides valuable insight into the connection between physical health, psychological wellbeing and person centred care.
